Summer 2010

Newsletter

The summer is almost over and I'm just getting around to this newsletter! So much has happened here, but the most delightful was the birth of three healthy, happy crias - one boy and two girls! So read on for more news about what has and what will be happening here at Sun Gate.

Due to a downturn in the economy, Paul's new 4-wheeler is

a bit small. We thought you might need a laugh through these tough times.

Here is our friend, Doug, standing in the overflow of the North Platte River onto our picnic park area. We even tied down the picnic table just in case it might float away with the strong currents.

Birth Announcements

Here with auntie Molly is our three new additions to Sun Gate.

On the left is Annie born July 13th, daughter of Mystique and Don Diego. She weighted in at a whopping 19 lbs, has true black fleece that is wonderfully soft and has such sheen.

Center is Esperanza born July 16th, a spirited girl from Flossie and Gus. She is a med brown and loves to jump and play.

On the right is Tawnee and Gus's boy named Ollantay (Oh-yawn-tay). He was born June 16th and oh, does he loves those girls! He was nick-named Curly because this boy's fleece is amazing. See that fleece on pic to the right. Bloodlines from Hemingway and Caligula.

Summer Felting Class

Sun Gate hosted a nuno felting class lead by Linda from Wyoming Prairie Alpacas.

Each of the five participants created a shawl/scarf by wet felting on silk. Linda was a great instructor and helped us be very creative. It was a very warm summer day, but fun to play in the water and make new things.

New Studio!

Finally, I can boost about my finished studio! Paul and Doug helped me with the construction and finishing touches. I now have a place to work with lots of windows for natural lighting and to watch the alpacas while I try to be creative. It's so nice to have my collection of looms and materials all in one place! Here's a couple photoes of the final results!

Have a wonderful rest of summer. Until next time... Penny & Paul

A Tribute to Millie

I will always remember you my friend, my companion.
You the one we found at a kennel in Denver in 1997.
The cutest little girl who teased Ramses and so cute you were.
The sweet young lady that we took to Riverton for a special date
And who everyday watched all the cars going by just in case we
would be the one who stopped to take you back home.
We missed you so that week.
And then…your night in labor birthing seven beautiful, healthy beagle puppies
l’ll always remember that long night and that you were the

best mom ever.

Yes, sweet girlfriend, we have some great memories.
You were special all your days.
I loved to watch you tease and play with your tail wagging and butt in the air.
and you loved that buttered popcorn so…
I will miss you so, but I know you have gone to

a special restful place.
I love you, Millie.
