Summer 2008 Volume 2 Issue 1

Newsletter

Summer is nearly upon us and the trees have leaved out, the birds are singing melodies, and the grass constantly needs mowing. We love summer when new crias safely arrive, visitors come to enjoy the animals, flowers are blooming and farm fragrances are abundant. We would also like to introduce Bill & Stephanie Edwards. They are on board to help us with marketing and sales. We've had lots of fun with them and are making memories while promoting the animals and the ranch. Please read their short biography below.

The 2008 Great Western Alpaca show in Denver was fun and as always a great place to meet other alpaca owners and learn new things. On May 29, our first cria came 26 days early and needed a little time to learn the nursing part, but she is well on her way - healthly, playful and so cute! Five more crais are due throughout the summer. Please visit our website for new updates as each one arrives. Shearing days are behind us and the pacas are funny to look at - everyone courts their own fashion! Click on the pictures below to enlarge them.

Introducing Pilar - only a few hours old! Thanks to Annalisa of California (winner of our contest) for naming this beautiful little white girl!

Here's a close up of Pilar kushed by the house. She displays wonderful fleece - with lots and lots of crimp!

"What you laughing at?" asks Gus.

"Did anyone see my fleece around here?"

Please meet

Bill & Stephanie Edwards

So how do two people with absolutely no camelid experience get into the alpaca business, let alone marketing and selling the critters?  Perhaps the real question is why not? Have you ever seen a cuter, fuzzier or more lovable animal than an alpaca, especially cria?

Actually our path to alpacas began with Steph’s knitting and friendship with Penny and soon became an exciting new adventure for both of us. So in February 2008 we formed a partnership with Paul and Penny to do marketing and sales for the Sun Gate Alpaca Ranch. With a combination of education and “time in the trenches” Bill and Steph bring over 40 years of marketing and sales experience to the Ranch and our “fleecy” friends. We look forward to working with Paul and Penny and all of you that share our affection for these wonderful animals.
