Our Trip to Peru- Peru Alpacas
In June of 2003 we went to Peru for two weeks. We were able to visit Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Cuzco, Machu Picchu, and many wonderful places in between. Here are some of the more interesting places we visited.

At Colca Canyon we were able to watch the Andean condors soar above teh canyon. Their wing span is about 11 feet.

arequipa airport

Our flight from Lima to Arequipa was made more interesting by flying an older boeing 727 with the rear exit still in use. These were sealed up in the USA after D. B. Cooper hijacked one and escaped over Oregon or Washington never to be heard from again.

Chivay market

This is the market in Chivay in the Colca Canyon. It was fun to mingle amongst the crowd.

conjunto 2

This is called a "conjunto". A group of buildings surrounded by a common wall.

100 year plant

Although this looks like moss, it is actually a plant that is very dense and about 100 years old. Walking on it feels like rough concrete.

bus sophie

This is the house of Sophie and Aldolfo. Her baby got sick at one of the vendor places in Colca Canyon so we gave her a ride back to her home in Maca. How our bus driver manuevered these small roads is beyond me.
